Henna comes from the leaves of the Lawsonia plant, dried and ground into a fine green powder that has adorned Egyptian hands and hair for thousands of years. Mixed with water, it releases a warm, earthy dye that stains skin in shades of amber and copper, carrying the scent of sun-baked earth and celebration.
Energetic profile: Cooling and calming, with a grounding, ceremonial feel. Henna is the plant of weddings and gatherings, of slow afternoons and adorned hands — it invites stillness, beauty, and connection.
Traditional uses: Long prized for body art — the intricate patterns painted on brides' hands — and as a natural hair treatment that many people enjoy for shine, body, and rich reddish tones. It is also traditionally used to cool and comfort the skin in hot climates.
How to use: Mix the powder with warm water (a squeeze of lemon is traditional) into a smooth paste, apply to hair or skin designs, and leave for several hours before rinsing. Wear gloves to avoid staining your hands. For external use.
